To Remove Guard-Stock Group from Barrel-Receiver Group:
Hold the gun, by the barrel with top of receiver upward in a suitable
vise with protected jaws. With a suitable screwdriver, loosen the takedown
screw, at rear of the lett side of the receiver, by turning it counterclockvise.
Pull screw out of side or receiver as far as it will go, and hold it
out with the left hand. With the right hand pull guard group rearward from
the receiver.
Note: In most of the folloving operations, it is suggested that the
gun be held by the barrel, in a suitable vise having protected jaws.
Remove Bolt From Receiver

To Remove Bolt from Receiver
Hold barrel-receiver group by the barrel, inverted in a suitable vise with protected jaws. Slide the bolt to rear of receiver, by means of the action slid lock handle. With a suitable screwdriver or other tool, gently pry bolt forward and upward so that the cam lug comes out of the inclined cam cut in the action slide bar. Grasp bolt with thumb and forefinger and slide it backward out of receiver.

Turn inner magazine tube by means of knurled front end so that locking pin is freed from retaining notch in outer tube and withdraw tube from outside tube lengthwise toward muzzle.

To Take Down Inner Magazine Tube
Hold the tube on two lead blocks with same hand holding a suitable drift and drive out the magazine plug pin using a suitable hammer. Remove magazine plug from end of tube. The magazine spring with the magazine follower in the inner end may be resdlly removed. The follover may be removed from spring, if necesssary.

Remove magazine ring pin from rear magazine ring by driving it from left to right out of ring, using a suitable drift and hammer.

To Remove Outer Magazine Tube from Gun
Draw tube toward muzzle, from its seat in cartridge cut-off retainer, in front end of receiver, and forward off the barrel through the front and rear magazine rings.

To Remove the Action Slide Group
Hold the gun inverted, by the barrel, in a suitable vise with protected jaw. Grasp action slide handle with left hand. Move the slide way forward and roll it off the barrel so that action slide bar comes out from the slot 1n the receiver toward the right.

To Remove Handle from Action Slide Sleeve
Hold slide bar assembly inverted, by the action slide bar, in a suitable vise with protected jaws. With a suitable screwdriver remove the two action slide handle screws by turning them counter clockwise. Be careful not to lose screws or escutcheons or mar handle.

Hold slide bar in vise horizontally and pull the handle from the sleeve. Remove action slide bar from action slide bar sleeve.

To Add Action Slide Bar to Action Sleeve
Place action slide bar on action slide sleeve and place the end of slide bar with most mill cuts in protected jaws of vise. Hold sleve on bar with left hand and slide handle onto sleeve with right hand.

Line up screw holes in sleeve and handle visually, insert screws and thurn them home clockwise into escutcheons.

Insert rear end of action slide bar in opening in front left side of inverted receiver held by barrel. Rock handle over to seat on barrel as it is swung in, parallel with barrel.
To Add Rear & Front Magazine Rings to Barrel

To Add Magazine Rings to Barrel
With barrel held inverted in a vise insert the rear magazine ring
(the ring having a pin hole) into the circular dovetail in barrel.
Using a short rod approximately 5 - 5 1/4" long which is a sliding fit in hole in
ring, as a handle, with fingers on rod and thumbs at ring turn ring home
clockwise to seat on barrel.
The fact that rod is a sliding fit in ring and projects equally on each
side of ring prevents distortion of hole in ring.
In similar manner insert front magazine ring.

To Add Outer Magazine Tube to Barrel-Receiver Assembly
Hold barrel inverted in vise with protected jaws. Grasp outer magazine tube and slide it through front and rear magazine rings, through action slide sleeve and into cartridge cut-off retainer in receiver. The plain end of tube enter first.

Line up notch on side of tube next to barrel visually with pin hole in rear magazine ring. Insert magazine ring pin in ring and drive it home with a suitable drift and hammer. The tube, rings, barrel, action slide sleeve and receiver are thus held in alignment.

To Assemble Inner Magazine Tube
Insert magazine follower in end of magazine spring. Slide magazine spring, follower end first into plain end of inner magazine tube. Press magazine plug into plain end of tube and line up holes in plug and tube. Hold plug end on lead block, insert magazine plug pin and drive it in flush with one side only of tube.

Insert follower end of inner magazine tube in front end of outer magazine tube. Slide tube in toward receiver until lock pin is in locking notch of outer magazine tube. Turn tube clockwise looking from front end to lock it in place.
To Add Rear Sight & Elevator to Barrel

To Add Rear Sight With barrel held in vise with receiver upright, start rear sight dovetail into the dovetail in barrel with pointed end of sight facing muzzle. Using a suitable brass rod and hammer, tap sight from right to left until it is central with barrel. When sight is properly located, grasp elevator with fingers of one hand and lifting notched end of sight with either hand, slide the elevator down into the sight beneath the bottom edge of the notched section. The varoius heights of seat in elevator may be used to adjust sight by moving elevator longitudinally on barrel.

To Add Front Sight Start dovetail of sight in doveetail on top of barrel from right to left. Using a suitable brass rod and hammer drive sight into barrel dovetail until it is central with barrel.
To Add Assembled Bolt To Assembled Reciever

To Add Bolt to Reciever Hold reciever inverted with action slide bar in rear position. Grasp bolt in fingers of hand and slide it into rear of reciever, compressing the bolt retaining spring, and having the cam lug on left side of bolt enter groove from rear end of reciever and slide along on top of action slide bar. Slide bolt forward until cam lug has passed cam in action slide bar. Slide bolt back so lug oes down in cam and bolt is controlled by action slide bar. The bolt will be held down in reciever under longitudinal travel of action slide bar. Move action slide back and forth to test functioning og bolt.
To Assemble Barrel-Reciever Group to Guard- Butt

To Assemble Guard-Stook Group to Reciever-Barrel Group Place reciever-barrel group in a suitable vise with reciever top upward. Grasp guard-stock group with hand and pull takedown screw way out to left of guard. Insert guard in reciever and line up takedown screw with its seat in left side of reciever. Push screw into the seat and turn it clockwise until it is tight in seat. A screwdriver may be used to tighten it still further.
